These are easy to use and save time but one needs to be sure of the quality. Many times manufacturers mix certain chemicals and compounds with henna powder to make color long-lasting and darker in shade.

No doubt initially results look great after use but over a period of time, a person may see bad consequences. To be doubly sure it is better to use raw henna or buy pure henna leaves from the market to avoid adulteration.

The process to make the henna paste for grey hair by using fresh leaves or dry leaves may take some time but is completely free of side effects.

How to make a henna paste?

Method 1:- Henna Leaves, Black Tea, Lemon Juice

Here is a traditional method of how to make henna paste. Take a sufficient amount of leaves enough to give your paste to cover hairs completely.

Soak these leaves in a sufficient amount of water and leave the mixture for a couple of hours. Later strain and collect leaves and grind these with mortar and pestle.

Make it a smooth paste so that it can spread over hairs and scalp evenly. Use your fingers to apply or you can use a brush. Form a thick layer covering strands their entire length and scalp.

Leave the paste on for 30-45 minutes and wash away with plain water later. If you make henna paste for grey hair in this manner you will get a red shade over white hairs and shine and softness.

This process can be repeated once in a week to maintain shade and treat strands to maintain softness and shine.

Another way how to make a henna paste is by using black tea. Black tea comes with antioxidants and also cover-up grey and white hair.

By using black tea the shade stays for longer duration and other ingredients used in this can treat hair and scalp problems as well.

One can make henna paste for grey hairs which handle oily scalp and hairs efficiently. You can take dry henna leaves about 1-2 tablespoons if you have long hairs.

Take a bowl and add 2-3 teaspoons of black tea leaves and a cup of water. Boil the mixture 3-4 times and let it cool down. When mixture has cooled down, strain and collect the tea.

Grind henna leaves with mortar and pestle and adds few drops of water to make the paste thick. Add black tea to make the paste smooth. Add 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and mix all the ingredients well.

You can sprinkle some cinnamon powder over this paste and mix. Henna with cinnamon powder smells great and provides sweet fragrance to your tresses.

Apply using a brush or finger and form a thick coat. Cover your head with a shower cap and let it stay for at least 45 minutes. Wash off with water and repeat 2-3 times in a month to maintain black, soft and denser hairs.

If you need darker black shade over grey or white hairs you can use mehndi to color hair in a different way. Brew a cup of strong black tea and add to the henna paste. Transfer this mixture to an iron utensil and leave it overnight.

Add lemon juice in the morning and apply it. Mehndi soaked with black tea in an iron utensil provides darker shade to white or grey tresses.

Method 2:- Henna, Shikakai Powder, Curd and Egg

This too is an old and trusted method to use mehndi to color hair. Henna and shikakai both are excellent natural agents for long and thick hairs.

If used before time these can even prevent premature greying and delay natural greying of strands. Take 2 tablespoons of dry henna leaves and add to one tablespoon of shikakai powder.

Add some water to make a paste and leave it overnight. In the morning add one tablespoon of curd and content of one egg and mix. Apply this paste over hairs and leave it in the form of a thick coat.

Wait for 45-60 minutes and wash first with plain water and later with shampoo. Use mild sulfate-free shampoo or herbal shampoo.

Repeat once in a week or two weeks to maintain long, shiny and thick hairs. It also clears dandruff and treats skin problems. This is another method of how to make henna paste full of nutrition and promotes growth of healthy hair.

Method 3:- Henna Powder, Amla Powder, Egg and Lemon

Amla and Henna both are wonderful natural agents for hair care and to cover-up grey or white hair. Take 3 tablespoons of henna powder or dry leaves, one cup of Amla powder, 2 tablespoons of fenugreek powder, one egg, and one lemon.

Take a bowl and first add henna, Amla powder, and fenugreek powder, add some water to get a consistent paste. Add the juice of one lemon and content of one egg and mix all the ingredients well.

Leave the mixture for an hour and later using a brush or finger to apply. Cover entire scalp and hairs from toe to tip. Let the mixture sit for 45-60 minutes and wash off with water and herbal shampoo.

Repeat this once in a week. If you use mehndi to color hair with Amla and other ingredients it arrests hair-fall and promotes the growth of healthy hairs.

Method 4:- Hibiscus Flowers, Henna Powder, and Lemon

Hibiscus flowers and leaves are used for providing hairs shine and softness. These are also used for maintaining healthy scalp which produces healthy hairs and protects them from greying and splitting at ends.

Here is how to make a henna paste with hibiscus leaves for complete hair care and attractive color. Take one tablespoon each of henna leaves and hibiscus leaves.

Mix the leaves and grind, add some water to get a paste, leave it for half an hour. Add one lemon’s juice and mix them well. Apply this paste over scalp and hairs and leave it on for 45 minutes.

Add coffee powder and water and keep the mixture to boil. Let the mixture boil for 3-4 minutes to get a concentrated coffee. Take henna powder in a bowl and when coffee is still warm pour it over henna slowly.

Keep mixing henna and coffee so that there are no lumps and you get a smooth paste. Apply over hairs covering scalp and hairs completely and leave it on. Wear a shower cap and cover it with a hot towel.

Wait for 45 minutes and wash off with herbal shampoo later. This is another way how to make henna paste for shiny, healthy and shaded hairs.
